Whanganui/Taranaki Itinerary

Day 1

Drive to Whanganui.
- Call at the Whanganui Riverboat Restoration Centre and enjoy a river cruise on the restored paddle steamer Waimarie.
- Walk across Whanganui City Bridge to the Durie Hill pedestrian tunnel and travel 205 metres to the famous Durie Hill Elevator. Climb up the neighbouring War Memorial Tower for views over the city and region.
- Stay overnight in Whanganui with Host Accommodation.
Day 2

Take a jetboat tour along the Whanganui River and into the national park with Bridge to Nowhere Jet Tours or visit the highly renowed Sarjent Art Gallery and sicover one of New Zealand's most beautiful buildins on the hill in Queens Park.
- Stay overnight in Whanganui with Host Accommodation.
Day 3
- Drive to New Plymouth via the surf Highway 45.
- Take a cruise around the Sugar Loaf Island and visit its seals with Chaddy's Charters.
- Spend the rest of the day exploring the city's attractions including the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, the tranquil inner-city Pukekura Park, and Pukeiti rhododendron and azalea gardens.
- Stay overnight in New Plymouth with Host Accommodation.
Day 4

Take a guided mountain or ecological tour of Mount Taranaki/Egmont.
- Alternatively, spend the day skiing on the mountain slopes or surfing at one of Taranaki's fine beaches.

Day 5
- Drive to Hawera via the Tawhiti Museum.
- Visit historic Turuturu Mokai Pa and go dam dropping and climb the Hawera Water Tower built in 1914.
